Orthodontic problems related to the teeth include crowding, protruded/retruded teeth, overbites, underbites, malpositioned jaws, extra teeth, missing teeth, impacted teeth and cleft palate. These can develop due to habits that adversely reshape the mouth or the position of teeth such as thumb or finger sucking, tongue thrusting, mouth breathing caused by enlarged tonsils, as well as accidents related to the face and teeth, dental disease and premature loss of primary or permanent teeth.
These problems can affect your facial appearance and influence the way you feel about your smile. There are also many advantages of having teeth and jaws that are properly aligned. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain, resulting in tooth decay, accelerated periodontal (or gum) disease and/or tooth loss, excessive stress on the tissues and bone that support the teeth as well as on the jaw joints.
At our clinic, we offer preventive, interceptive and corrective orthodontic treatments including:
- Metal Braces:
Metal braces are the most common type of braces and are made of high-grade stainless steel.
- Clear Braces:
Clear braces are much less visible on your teeth than metal braces.
- Tooth coloured or ceramic braces
- Lingual braces/Incognito®:
These braces are worn on the inside (tongue-side) surfaces of the teeth and thus are completely invisible.
- Self-ligating Braces:
Self-ligating braces do not rely on elastic or steel ties to hold the archwire in place. Instead, the brackets have a metal clip that closes over the wire, which creates less friction or resistance between the braces and the wire.
The Invisalign system is a virtually invisible treatment that uses an innovative approach to gently yet effectively straighten your teeth. Through a series of custom-made removable aligners, made with unique Smart Force technology, the Invisalign system gradually and predictably moves your teeth to an ideal position.
Using Invisalign’s iTero Digital scanner and advanced ClinChek software, our doctor creates a customized 3D treatment plan for you which shows the predicted outcome and length of treatment.
Maxillary Expansion Appliances
These appliances are used to widen the top jaw which is too narrow in relation to the lower jaw. They can be designed to not only move teeth but also correct the alignment of the jaws which hold the teeth. The most common objective is to correct an underdeveloped lower jaw.
Fixed appliance: This is the most typical appliance and uses an expansion screw (which is turned regularly by the patient) or a wire spring device (which is widened by the orthodontist).
Removable appliance: This appliance is not bonded on the teeth and can be removed by the patient.
We provide comprehensive orthodontic services for children of all ages. Our orthodontist can screen for misaligned bites and crooked teeth and start correcting them to avoid potential problems for future adult teeth. Both pre-orthodontic and Orthodontic treatments are available for children:
